Ask Menu wide position in kobo aura one?
Hi,
I have a ereader Kobo Aura One and i use it to view musicsheets, it would be interesting for this use to have the menu in wide position because the most of musicsheets i have are in wide position.
It would be posible to change the menu position by a patch?
And another question, at the last page when you touch to go to next page the document is closed.
It would be posible to deactivate documento close in this case?
Thanks.

Instructions for patching firmware 4.3.9084
See the Kobo firmware 4.3.9084 discussion thread for information about what has changed in this firmware version.
See the Index to the Metazoa firmware patches thread for a description of what some of these patches do.
Before starting:
1. Make sure your Kobo ereader is already running firmware version 4.3.9084 (59faa7bc47). If not, then you need to upgrade before applying this patch.
2. Check that your battery is well charged.
Patching from Windows, Linux (i386/x86_64), or Mac (OS X 10.8-10.9, i386/x86_64):
1. Download and extract patch_kobo_4039084.zip (attached).
2. Download the Kobo firmware archive version 4.3.9084 for your device (See this thread) and copy it into the 4.3.9084_source/ subdirectory. (Don't unzip the firmware.)
3. Read and edit all the *.patch files in the 4.3.9084_source/ subdirectory in order to: choose which patches to enable (patch_enable=`yes`) or disable (patch_enable=`no`); and to change some of the replacement values to suit your device and preferences.
4. In Windows double-click 4.3.9084bat; For Linux/Mac open a terminal, change to the patch_kobo_4039084/ subdirectory, and run ./4.3.9084.sh from the command line.
5. If there were no errors, copy the resulting KoboRoot.tgz from the 4.3.9084_target/ subdirectory to the .kobo directory on your ereader.
6. Safely eject and unplug the device, which will then update and restart.
To return your ereader to its original unpatched state:
1. Edit all the 4.3.9084_source/*.patch files to disable all patches (set patch_enable = `no` for every patch).
2. Repeat steps 4-6 of the procedure above.
Note that the following patches are enabled by default:
`Fix page breaks bug`
`Default ePub monospace font (Courier)`

Test123
Hey guys, I just found out how retailers enable demo mode. There is actually an invisible button when setting up your e-reader. I am going to show you guys how to enable demo mode. This is helpful when you are at the store trying to test out a demo model, but it isn't setup yet. Lets get on with it!
1. Turn on the e-reader and select a language.
2. Double-Tap on the top-right corner of the screen. A new screen will popup with the title "Enter Demo Mode?".
3. Enter "demomodeon" as the password(without the quotation marks), and tap on "Continue".
4. The e-reader will now ask you to select a WiFi network. You can also tap on "Skip" in the bottom right corner.
5. If you connected the e-reader to a WiFi network, it will start downloading an update. If not, it will go straight to the next screen asking you to select your region.
6. Once you tap on your region, the e-reader will immediately reboot and take you to the home screen. The e-reader might start flipping through the demo screensaver right away.

Is it possible to install Linux on the Kobo Glo HD?
Hi!
I would like to know if there is any way to install Debian -or another version of Linux- on the Kobo Glo HD.
I know that this is possible to do with the Kobo Touch: https://sites.google.com/site/gibekm...kobo-as-tablet
I was wondering if this would work if I use that image on my Kobo Glo HD? And if not, is there any other way to achieve this?
:thanks:

Footer menubar reduction
I know there's a patch to reduce the menubar in the header, but what about the footer?
I only recently tried the header one, and was surprised by how much I liked it. Even though I don't see it often, it's nice to have it reduced down so there's less white space.

Change refresh on Aura One
An old thread talked about changing the number of refresh in Kobo eReader.conf by changing the value of variable numPartialUpdatePageTurns from (1-6) to 90
I'm on version 4.3.9084 and there is no numPartialUpdatePageTurns. There is pageTurningOption=option2 , but I can't find option 2 to change it to a number. Can anyone solve this for me - that black screen every 6 pages is distracting.

Aura H2O night mode ?
Sorry if this information exists, but the subject I find is 46 pages and English is not my language... Et Google Traduction a des limites :book2:
Is there a nightmode that works today on a Aura h2o with the latest version of firmware that kobo gives me in France, that is 4.3.8966
I had already installed the hack successfully in time, and I do not know where the problem comes from, but is there a place where all the information exists in a clear and synthetic way?
The hack seems old, and the worry is surely in the way to activate it ... In time there was way to create 2 activation icons, or a% of light that activated this hack ...
Thank you for :help:

How do I ssh into the Kobo Aura One in 2017
I am curious if this is still possible to SSH into your Kobo reader in 2017. I am reading posts from before, way before. I honestly don't want a reader where I cant ssh into. The whole point of buying Kobo is that it would be a Linux box, just like my other machines.
Can someone please confirm if it is possible, and please share how he or she did it? (pref link to script) Much much appreciated.

Aura H2O Sort by series?
This has become more complicated than I expected it to be.
I've got a second Aura H20 for a friend and I'm trying to make it easy for them to read a series of books in the correct order without having to look them up elsewhere when choosing the next book.
This is what I'm doing:
On the device select Books > Sort: Series
The result is a list of books not in series but alphabetical order, ignoring any books starting with the.
When I look at the metadata in Calibre the series and book number is set correctly, so I'm a bit baffled.
I read [url=https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=226541]in another thread[/i] that it isn't set on transfer but is updated when reconnected, so I've done that and it's still not showing.
I've also looked at the linked wiki page but all that is info from 2013.
Am I doing something wrong or do I still have to jump through those hoops?
I'm not technically terrible but the Source Template code in the post, or on the wiki, is quite complicated. I can't imagine a regular user doing that, the person I'm trying to help has no PC and extremely basic PC skills so pointing her to that is not going to end well.
I've been using mine for a while but I find myself reading the web more than books these days, when I do read a book I've just been using winblows explorer to copy what I want to read to the H20 and when I'm done I delete it. Very simple and works fine for me but isn't an option for my friend.
Given the age of the instruction post and wiki I thought that Calibre would have got that part sorted out automagically in the intervening four years.
Please tell me I've missed something.

Aura HD Collection Management (not ignoring collections)
I setup collection mamagement to sync columns from Clibre automatically and thats working as it should. However, when I try to set collections to be ignored by Clibre, books which I add to these collections still get deleted after syncing.
My goal is to make two collections on my device (one for books I'm currently reading and one for books I want to read next), which I can manage on my device without Calibre affecting these at all. I want to name them *Current and *Next (I thought that having * in the names is the issue but I tried it without that and its still removing books after syncing).
Calibre, firmware and the Kobo drivers are updated to the latest versions.
I might be missing a step or something is not working properly.
Any help would be very appreciated!

Touch N905 vs N905C hardware
I've been hacking on a Kobo Touch N905C to use as a dumb e-ink display and it's been working great. I decided I wanted a second unit to play around with as well but as soon as it arrived I immediately ran into issues with getting it connected to my computer using USB. It was clearly running older firmware (no wifi setup option) so I popped the back cover off and was surprised to discover what I thought was N905 hardware with soldered flash instead of an SD card. Did production change during the N905C model run or is this some sort of refurb or case swap?
Old model on top, note circle exclamation point on new unit:

Old unit made in China, new in Taiwan, both marked N905C:

Is there any way to be sure I will get the newer SD card model when ordering? I thought I was safe with the "N905C" model but apparently not. Maybe the exclamation point on the bottom plus the color logo on the front?

Instructions for patching firmware 4.4.9344
BEWARE: There are two versions of the mark6 firmware but the both have the same filename kobo-update-4.4.9344.zip. Some people get one and some get the other despite downloading from the same link, so check very carefully when updating or patching a mark6 device, especially the Aura One:
* Original mark6 firmware: device information reports 4.4.9344 (6f700792a0, 16 May 2017)
84,642,940 bytes, MD5SUM 545969e53732d1abb904d7acf4175922 kobo-update-4.4.9344.zip
* Updated mark6 firmware: device information reports 4.4.9349 (6f700792a0, 17 May 2017)
84,648,827 bytes, MD5SUM: b0208d75e861176f504df0a1ce2ddbf2 kobo-update-4.4.9344.zip
Sideloading the original firmware in the 84,642,940 byte file causes a black screen on the Aura One and probably requires a factory reset to fix. If updating the firmware by sideloading then make sure you use the updated 84,648,827 byte file on the Aura One.
